Rainbow Gamps

In weaving, a “color gamp” inspects how every color of yarn interacts with every other color of yarn. So much of weaving is an intersection of math and art. This series uses many colors of yarn from the Earth Guild Dragon Tales series, and inspects how they interact with different patterns and color sets.

Also one of my first experiments with reflective threads. These strands are made out of the same material used in safety vests and running clothing. They do not produce light on their own, but are such perfect reflectors that when hit with direct light they appear to glow. Including them in my scarves not only adds depth of light and points of interest, but also makes the wearer more visible at night for road safety.

Fiber: Rayon, 3M
Technique: Simple twill, color gamp
