I am working in partnership with the Piedmont Fibershed at their FiberLab in Burlington, NC to produce some beautiful fabric and unique fabric.

The warp is all of my remaining USA grown organic cotton from a lot I purchased back in 2020. The weft is some of the Piedmont Fibershed mill-ends linen that they rescued from mill closures. We know it is spun from European flax, but haven't been able to track its history further. This yardage will be woven by yours truly on the air-powered industrial dobby looms in the new textile maker space as a proof of concept to show how the FiberLab can bring artisans together with technology and equipment. Due to the unique combination of discontinued yarns, this is the only run of this fabric that will ever exist!

The fabric will be a medium to light weight, with a light drape and a crisp hand. The yarn is undyed and will result in a lightly cream-colored fabric, perfect for natural dyeing -- that's what we plan to do with it!

We got enough interest to run a successful pre-order, and the fabric is being produced at the FiberLab right now! The fabric will be ready by mid-August. The following details outline the costs and timeline, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! You are welcome to come visit the FiberLab to feel samples, though I am unable to mail any at this time.

Timeline

July 7: Deadline to pre-order your yards below. Price will increase on July 8th! 

Month of July: I'll be busy weaving your fabric at the FiberLab. If you'd like to come visit and see the magic happening, please do! 

August 15th: Your fabric will be ready by (or most likely before!) August 15th. The remaining 50% of your payment will be due before delivery. You can pick up your fabric in person at the FiberLab in Burlington NC, or will be contacted regarding shipping. 

Reserve Your Yards 

We have met our minimum! Yippee! As of June 30th we have 37 yards reserved. I can weave up to 50 yards, so I am still taking pre-orders. Pre-orders will close at 11:59pm on July 7th. Any yards leftover after weaving will be sold for $65/yard. 

*I am unable to offer half-yards at this time. Your fabric will be cut to length as one piece based on the quantity you add to your cart.
